  • How do I apply to Soccer and Study and how does the system work?

    If you are interested in earning a degree and developing your soccer skills to the maximum, then the Soccer&Study model could be for you.


    Complete the contact form and we will contact you to take you and your parents / guardians through the whole process.


    For an undergraduate fee of £24,000 per academic year (£23,000 for post graduates), we take you through the whole process of university application including reserving University accommodation. The fee also covers all football club membership costs, as well as transport to and from either Manchester or Leeds Bradford airport


    Our aim is to make the whole process as stress free as possible and provide you and your parents with total peace of mind


  • What standard of soccer player are you looking for?

    The Soccer and Study UK experience is applicable to any female soccer players with experience of playing in a team over in the USA. We cater for a range of abilities, and have the contacts to offer placements with local teams at various levels dependent on ability, as well as providing the opportunity to represent the University. Our aim is to provide all our athletes with an experience that maximises both your academic and sporting potential.

  • What pastoral support do you provide?

    S&SUK are fully committed to providing close mentoring support for all visiting student athletes. We know how important this is from our work recruiting UK athletes to go to the USA.


    Put simply, the peace of mind of both our athletes and their parents is a top priority for everyone at S&SUK. Our Head of Education, Lesley Maloney, has nearly 40 years experience in a number of senior management roles in Education, with a wealth of experience in providing pastoral care.


    Lesley will be in regular contact with all the girls to ensure that their time in the UK runs as smoothly as possible. If our student athletes have a problem outside of education/football we are available 24/7 to help.  

  • What opportunities are there to play women's soccer outside the University?

    The S&SUK team have a wealth of contacts at different levels of women’s football in the UK. Athletes will have the opportunity to play at the appropriate level for their ability, all the way up to WPL level.

  • What happens if I require hospital treatment whilst studying over in the UK?

    Your insurance will cover you for all aspects of normal medical support required whilst studying over in the UK.  

  • Can you provide a summary of how the induction would work when we sign up?

    Once you have registered for the relevant course, the S&SUK team will be in regular contact with you to answer any questions you may have and to ensure everything runs smoothly before you travel over to the UK. 


    When you arrive in the UK you will be picked up by one of the S&SUK team. You will then be transported to your student accommodation. The following day you will be given a full briefing from the S&SUK team alongside a tour of the University and you will have the opportunity to ask any questions.


    We also offer the opportunity for any of our athletes to visit the University and meet the S&SUK team prior to making a final decision. Please see the section headed 4 day taster trip. 

  • What is the cost of the S&SUK soccer experience and what does it include?

    The cost per academic year is £25,500 per academic year for undergraduates and £24,000 for postgraduates.


    This includes:

    All University academic costs (circa £15,000)

    All University accommodation costs (circa £8,000)

    Soccer and Study UK costs - £2,500

    All associated costs involved with University and local club training

    Full soccer kit to include match day kit and full training kit.

    Transport to and from either Manchester Airport or Leeds - Bradford International Airport

    Various day trips

    Help with all elements of the administrtaion process.


    The team at S&SUK team can help with the administration involved in organising a US federal loan if required.

  • What experience do you have in this field?

    We have an outstanding track record of recruiting UK athletes to head over to the USA on soccer scholarships. We have built SRUSA(Women) on the back of providing the best possible levels of customer service from initial recruitment all the way to supporting athletes at graduation.

  • What Degree courses are available?

    There are a wide variety of undergraduate  / postgraduate courses available, though the great majority of students tend to select either the Sports Science or Business Management courses.

  • What are the entry qualifications required to enrol on an Honours Degree course?

    To qualify to study for an Honours Degree in the UK you will require a High School Grade 12 Diploma with a GPA of 3 or above, plus one of the following:


    SAT reasoning test score of 1270 (including a minimum of 650 in Reading and Writing and 610 in Maths), or alternatively, an ACT score of 26 or above.


  • What are the entry qualifications to enrol on a Postgraduate course?

    To qualify to study as a Postgraduate you require a Bachelor degree from a US University with a GPA of 2.5 or above.

  • What student accommodation is available?

    A variety of student accommodation is available and we try wherever possible to ensure our international students live as close together as possible. Feel free to contact us to discuss all options further. 

  • How do I get to University from my accommodation and also to football training?

    All student accommodation is within close proximity of both University and the training facility 

  • Can I work whilst over in the UK?

    Yes, there is no issue with you working whilst over in the UK. It is worth noting that if you have a coaching badge this will enable you to coach at local Player Development Centres. 

  • What would a 'normal' week attending University look like?

    Most lectures take place in the morning. A combination of University training and strength and conditioning sessions take place 4 times per week. University match days are on a Wednesday and local team matches (where applicable) take place on a Sunday. The soccer season runs from September through until end May.
