Case Studies

Whilst Soccer and Study UK is a relatively new company, the management team under the leadership of Jon Maloney, have been involved for some years in recruiting hundreds of female student athletes who have been awarded soccer scholarships in the USA.

The testimonials below from Sports Recruiting USA players and parents are designed to give prospective USA players and parents an insight into the team's commitment to providing the highest possible levels of customer service to our athletes, from initial introduction all the way to successful graduation.

Stacey Balaam - Head Women’s Soccer Coach - University of West Georgia.

“I've had the pleasure of recruiting players through SRUSA for several years, and during this time I have seen the company provide a great service to so many young women, making a huge impact on their futures.

Jon Maloney has modelled the values of trust, honesty and integrity in all his dealings with us, which is always appreciated from college coaches, as well as from the prospective student athletes. I have been particularly impressed with the support and guidance Jon gives to each athlete throughout the recruitment process.

Jon also makes a point of continuing to stay in touch with these young ladies throughout their college career. This is a great reflection on his and the company’s passion to ensure all his athletes have the best possible academic and sporting experience.”

Grace Foyer – Harrogate Town Captain,
now Freshman, Embry Riddle University, FL.

"Jon and the team at SRUSA have been amazing from the very first moment I expressed an interest in going over to the USA to play soccer.

Jon has coached me for the last 3 seasons, and his support and encouragement have been a major factor in my development both on and off the field of play over this time.

Jon has an outstanding reputation with a wide variety of USA coaches, as witnessed by the numbers that attend the annual SRUSA showcase. This was where I first met the coach from Embry Riddle University where I will begin my course in August.

Whenever I've had a query, Jon has been available to lend immediate support and advice. Given he has spent four highly successful years over in the States himself, Jon has been invaluable in helping me to prepare for this exciting adventure.

Jon and his team have made my journey seem effortless and the advice and support he has given my parents has given them great peace of mind.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Jon to any student athlete looking for a life-changing soccer experience, whether it be over in the USA or here in the UK."

Nigel Hudson – UEFA B Coach and father of Natasha Hudson – Sophomore, Barry University, FL, and Olivia Hudson – Freshman, East Stroudsburg University, PA.

"Our two daughters, Natasha and Olivia, have both successfully made the move to America thanks to SRUSA.

We knew that SRUSA was the right recruitment agency for us when we spoke to parents of players that we knew, some of them coaches themselves, who had nothing but praise for Jon, Ged and the team.

The support which SRUSA have given us has been first class from the moment we signed. Throughout the recruitment process, Jon and the team provided consistent support, offering advice on SATs and visa applications, help with insurance, and even after our daughters actually made the move abroad they kept in touch.

The showcase events which SRUSA hold are really well organised, professionally run and very informative. Like many of the players’ parents, we actually used to look forward to the events as the quality of football was so good!

Making the move to College or University is a massive step for any young person, but making that move in a foreign country is even bigger. With SRUSA, you will get trustworthy help from people who genuinely care.

SRUSA offer a personal service with consistent support and a quick response. We have recommended them to a number of our friends and would have no hesitation in doing so again."

Kirsty MacGregor- Harrogate Town player, now freshman at Itawamba Community College, MS.

"I first started working with Jon and Ged when I joined the Player Development Centre (PDC) at Harrogate Town at age 14.  Jon has coached me all the way through my career at Harrogate Town from the PDC to the development team, and then onto the first team where I have played for 2 years. His knowledge, enthusiasm and encouragement has helped me develop both as a footballer and a person.

When I showed interest in going to America, Jon and the SRUSA team introduced what felt like quite a daunting concept to me, in a way that was easy to understand. Jon shared his experiences as a player and Ged was able to give a parental perspective to my mum and dad which gave them great peace of mind.

Whenever I've needed Jon for any sort of help throughout the process, he has been quick to respond with the information needed. My whole process of signing on with Itawamba Community College has been made almost effortless with the help of the SRUSA team.

I will always recommend Jon to assist with studying and playing, whether that is in the US or the UK."

Aqsa Mushtaq, Lenoir Rhyne Athlete of the Year 2019-20
All American 3rd Team / All Conference 1st Team 2019-20
Only D2 player eligible for the National Players Draft

"SRUSA helped me throughout the whole process to enable me to find the best possible team for me at an outstanding University. If it wasn't for Jon I would never have studied at Lenoir-Rhyne. Playing at a high level while getting a degree was all I ever wanted and that is exactly what I achieved. I met some amazing people, had a life-changing experience and it all helped me achieve goals that I didn't even know were possible - decorated as a player by my peer group, achieving my degree and making countless friends for life.  I cannot thank Jon and the whole team enough for everything they have done for me!"

Don MacGregor, father of Kirsty (Harrogate Town Ladies and Freshman at Itawamba Community College) and Level 2 Football Coach.

"I first met Ged and Jon at a Sports Recruiting USA presentation evening, given to local football coaches. At the time, I was a coach for a local girls football team, for which my daughter Kirsty played.

After joining the Harrogate Town PDC, Kirsty made the decision to play football and continue her education at University in America. She attended the SRUSA trial events and the annual showcase which were both extremely well run, and the marketing material given to the athletes contained a lot of useful information.

It was also never too much trouble for Jon when we asked to meet him on several occasions to ask further questions relating to the process. Jon has fully supported us and has always been available to answer any questions we have had.

I would definitely recommend Jon and Ged to any girls thinking of playing football in the USA or UK."
